On Father’s Day in June 2011, my mom, dad, brother and I were at the movies when we got a frantic call from my grandmother. “Bob (my grandpa) is really dizzy and he keeps falling,” she said. We decided to meet them at the Conway Medical Hospital where a CT scan revealed a bleed in my grandpa’s brain. He was transferred to Grand Strand Medical Center where an MRI revealed a large tumor in the middle of his brain. On June 26th, we took my grandpa back to the hospital so he could have a biopsy on the tumor. The results came back as a low- grade glioma. (Dr. Giddens.) After the biopsy, he was only supposed to be in the hospital for one night, but my grandpa was there for a week. He was in the ICU for four days, and a normal room for three days. As a result of the biopsy, he lost the vision out of his left eye. My parents decided they wanted a second opinion, so they sent the biopsy samples to the leading brain tumor pathology center, Duke Medical University in North Carolina. They agreed with the neurologists’ diagnoses and ordered an extensive round of radiation and chemotherapy. In fact, Duke was so confident that he was going to survive, they told us that we did not have to take my grandpa to see them; he would be fine. He had radiation every day for 35 days and took a chemotherapy pill every day for 35 days. Throughout the treatments, my grandpa lost all movement on the left side of his body, and I saw the light fade from his eyes. Towards the end of the treatments, my dad talked to the neurosurgeon at Grand Strand and asked him if we should call a hospice to keep him comfortable in his final days. The neurosurgeon said “We are not even in the realm of worrying about him dying, he will be fine.” My grandpa died two weeks later, on November 5th, 2011, while lying on a hospital bed in his bedroom. It is obvious that these so-called “treatments” do not work, not only for brain cancer, but for all types of cancer. Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of death in the world, so why are we having such a hard time treating it even though it is so relevant? Well, in the simplest terms, cancers is when a bunch of cells with damaged DNA divide and multiply uncontrollably, therefore, creating a threatening tumor. The most common “treatments” for cancer are chemotherapy and radiation; chemotherapy treatments are derived from mustard gas, chemical warfare agents from World War 1. (Heise Health 2.) How does putting a chemical warfare compound in your body sound? 96 to 98% of cancer in not cured by chemotherapy and patients who have chemotherapy have lost their only chance of survival- all nutrition based methods. (Heise Health 2.) Chemotherapy kills all the cells in your body, even the healthy ones, so when the damaged cancer cells grow back, there will be no immune system to fight them off. (Heise Health 2.) This is true because my grandmother was diagnosed colon cancer when 48 and after she had surgery and chemo they thought the cancer was gone. While on the chemo, she was so sick that she had to be in the hospital. 6 months after finishing the chemo the doctors wanted her to go back for a checkup and scans to make sure the cancer had not come back. Upon having an MRI, it was discovered that the cancer had not only returned, but spread to her liver. The doctors ordered her to have surgery to remove the tumors in her liver. On the day of the surgery, the doctors opened her up and closed her. There were multiple tumors all over her liver and they told my mother and her family there was nothing they could do. My grandmother, Dianne, died after an 18 month battle with colon cancer when she was 50 years old. In addition, during my research I found out that the pharmaceutical companies make close to $100 billion a year from chemotherapy treatments. (Heise Health 3.) So, are the pharmaceutical companies’ partly responsible for deceiving cancer patients? Of course they are, the only thing they care about is making money. In fact, if a caring oncologist is found telling a cancer patient to go seek nutritional methods, they could lose their job and face a few hefty fines. (Heise Health 3.) Chemotherapy is the most popular source of treatments for cancer, but the oncologists who give chemotherapy would not have it themselves. “In numerous surveys, most chemotherapists have said they would not take chemotherapy themselves or recommend it to their families. Chemotherapy drugs are some of the most toxic substances ever put into the body.” (Heise Health Clinic 2.) Why would chemotherapists give these poisons to numerous patients every day, but run away from them if they had to have it? That is because these treatments do not work for most people they never have and they never will. The only thing they do is make a cancer patients’ everyday life worse. The side effects are terrible- life threatening mouth sores, throwing up, weight loss, hair loss, major fatigue, and other horrible side effects that make chemotherapy worse than the actual disease. These treatments are a double edged sword. No wonder why the actual survival rate for cancer patients treated with chemotherapy in the US in only 2.1%. In a study conducted in 1990, a well-known German epidemiologist named Dr. Ulrich Abel read thousands of medical journals and contacted over 350 universities’ and asked them to send him anything they had ever published on and about chemotherapy. (Can You Trust Chemotherapy to Cure Your Cancer 2.) From his study, he came to the conclusion that chemotherapy can in no way extend the life of a cancer patient. (Can You Trust Chemotherapy to Cure Your Cancer 2.) Most of the cancer patients that die do so because they had chemotherapy. What chemotherapy really does is only shrink the tumor a little bit (if any at all), so when the cancer grows back, it is more vicious and aggressive. This obviously leads to very bad survival rates and does not extend the patient’s life or make it better in any way, shape, or form. “The FDA defines an “effective” chemotherapeutic drug as one which achieves a 50% or more reduction in tumor size for 28 days.” Shrinking a tumor for 28 days does not help cancer patients survive, and chemotherapy certainly cannot shrink a tumor by up to 50%. (Heise Health 1.) This is why many people are looking into all nutrition based methods for cancer treatments. For example, one oncologist told a 16 year old girl in California that had a serious cancer to go seek nutritional methods. Today, she is cancer free. (Heise Health 2.) Vitamin C has also become very popular in terms of helping cancer patients. Vitamin C does not damage the immune system like chemotherapy in fact, it strengthens it. Another plus is that the vitamin is toxic to the cancer cells, so it will kill them. High doses of this vitamin can also reduce tumor size by 50 %, and it will make the patient’s life longer and better, without the horrible side effects of chemotherapy. (Cure for Cancer- Intravenous Vitamin C Video.) A man with lung cancer so advanced that it spread to his brain was treated with very high doses of Vitamin C. Today the man, Arlindo Oliviera, is cancer free. (Cure for Cancer- Intravenous Vitamin C Video.) All this research answers my essential questions: the side effects are terrible, these are not the only treatments, chemotherapy is being pushed because it is a good source of money, there are no benefits from these treatments, and neither of them is effective. If you know anyone that is currently suffering from cancer, I urge you to talk to them about nutrition based treatments and possibly go and see a nutritionist. The survival rates from these toxic chemicals are so poor, and people deserve to have a better chance at surviving.

In this article, Sayer Ji says that we are still in the dark ages when it comes to treating cancer. He thinks that we are actually misunderstanding the enemy- is it cancer, or the treatments? Cancer, in the easiest terms of understanding it, is when a bunch of damaged cells in the body mulitply uncontrollably, eventually causing a tumor. From the tumor, the cells will travel through the blood stream and spread to other parts of the body, also known as metastizing. What chemotherapy does is kill ALL of the cells in your body, even the healthy one's. And without those healthy cells the body has no possible way of surviving to fight off the cancer. The only thing oncologists do is determine an acceptable level of harm when giving patients chemotherapy and radiation. A chemo drug called tamoxifen has over 24 health destroying side effects, but yet it is the first choice of treatment that oncologists chose for breast cancer patients. As a matter of fact, this drug has also been linked to causing liver cancer. Radiation has shown that it may slow down of tumors progress,  but that is only because the tumor is selecting more radiation- resisent and aggressive cancer cells, which only leads to a more higher malignancy. Does this make any sense to you? Of course, cancer is a terrible thing, but chosing to have chemotherapy and radiation will only make it worse. Article Two Evidence: Can you trust chemotherapy to cure your cancer?

In this article, Andreas Mortiz also claims that chemotherapy does not kill cancer. He used the example of Tony Snow, the Former White House Press Secretary. He passed away in July 2008 after a four year battle with colon cancer. Although, Snow had his colon removed in a surgery he had in 2005, so he technically did not die from "colon cancer." There was no colon left for him to have cancer in. He also underwent several rounds of extensive chemotherapy, one round of chemo lasting six months. His doctor told him that his condition was very treatable, and that he would be fine in no time. That did not happen though. So, this brings up my question, and I am sure many other people have this question too: Does chemotherapy and radiation actually work? It seems as if this is a tough question to answer. Of course, everyone wants to trust a doctor, who doesn't? I was doing some research and found out that if an oncologist tells a chemo patient to go seek other forms of treatment, that oncologist could lose their job or even end up in jail. In this article, a study by a very well known and respected German epidemiologist, Dr. Ulrich Abel, is mentioned. He contacted 350 medical centers and universities and asked them to send him anything they had ever published on chemotherapy, as well as reviewing thousands of medical journals about chemo. He came to the conclusion that chemotherapy in no way possible can extend the life of a cancer patient. This study was conducted in 1990, and there was not one thing about it in the mainstream media. Imagine all of the other research and things other people have found out about chemotherapy since 1990. His work was not covered because it was a lie, but simply because it is impossible to not believe. Does the pharmaceutical industry have anything to do with this study not being in the news headlines? Of course, as they are the one's who make all this money from the chemotherapy scam. The side effects of chemotherapy are horrendous:
life threatening mouth sores, throwing up, loss of hair, weight loss, anemia, it poisions every part of your body. Mortiz says that before any cancer patients committ to chemo, they need to question their doctors and tell them to show evidence that chemotherpy will benefit them. In this article, the Heise Health Clinic argues that chemotherapy does not help cancer patients at all. They claim that these chemicals are extremely toxic to the body, and all they will do is weaken your immune system and make the cancer more aggressive and vicious. The HHC even says that chemotherapists would not take chemotherapy themselves or recommend it to anyone in their family! So why would they give it to the millions of people diagnosed with cancer each year? Dr. Moss, the author of a book called "The Cancer Industry," suggests that that motivating force behind cancer research is only for money. Doctors and oncologists say that chemotherapy will be effective in curing your cancer. For your information, the FDA defines an "effective" chemotherapy drug as one that has achieved 50% or more of tumor reduction in 28 days. There is absolutely no correlation between srkinking the tumors for 28 days and curing cancer. In fact, chemotherapy will cause the tumor to grow back even more deadly. There is a reason why the actual survival rate of cancer treated with chemotherapy in the US is only 2.3%. There is not one single study that definately proves that chemotherapy improves the quality of life at all. Dr. John Cairns, a professor of microbiology at Harvard University stated the follwing: "that basically the war on cancer was a failure and that chemotherapy was not getting very far with the vast majority of cases." Also, at a recent National Institution of Health Meeting, a man named Dr. Lundberg ( who is the editor of the Journal of the American Medical Assoction) was quoted talking about chemotherapy:
"It's a marvelous opportunity for rampant deceit. So much money is there to be made that ethical principles can be overrun sometimes in a stampede to get at physicians and presribers."
Now, did you ever hear a story about that quote on the news? I think not.
Close to $100,000,000,000 a year is spent on chemotherapy treatments, but the death rate continues to go up. If you are currently suffering from any form of cancer, I strongly encourage you to read this article. You have the right to know the truth before you make any descions. I wish I had known the truth about chemotherapy and radiation when my grandpa was sick, maybe he would still be here today.

I chose this topic not only to help me understand if chemotherapy and radiation really work, but to also help the people that are in the same position I was in. If you have a family member sick with cancer, you might be thinking of what treatment options would be best for them right now. A lot of the doctors are probably saying "The best treatment option would be an extensive round of chemotherapy or radiation." Sometimes, the doctors even recommend both, which they did for my grandpa. He lost his battle to cancer in four short months. The following questions are important to me because they will help me get to the root of the problem throughout my research.

The day my whole life changed.

On June 17th, 2011, my whole world changed. I found out that my grandpa whom I lived with had a brain tumor. On June 26th, 2011, my grandpa, Robert George, had a biopsy to determine whether or not the tumor was benign or malignant. The tumor in fact was cancerous; a low grade glioma. The doctor told us that this was something he'd be able to live with for several years. But, throughout the next four months, the man that I loved, looked up to, and looked to for safety went down hill fast. His radiation and chemotherapy treatments just made him even more sick. He lost all movement on the left side of his body, and was soon sleeping in a hospital bed in his room, with daily visits from hospice nurses. My grandpa passed away on November 5th, 2011, after a short four month battle with a cancer that he was supposed to be able to live with for several years. I began to wonder, did chemotherapy and radiation just kill my grandpa faster?
