What I Want to Find Out About My Topic

I chose this topic not only to help me understand if chemotherapy and radiation really work, but to also help the people that are in the same position I was in. If you have a family member sick with cancer, you might be thinking of what treatment options would be best for them right now. A lot of the doctors are probably saying "The best treatment option would be an extensive round of chemotherapy or radiation." Sometimes, the doctors even recommend both, which they did for my grandpa. He lost his battle to cancer in four short months. The following questions are important to me because they will help me get to the root of the problem throughout my research.

Essential Questions:

1. What are the statistics of chemotherapy and radiation helping cancer patients?

2. Why does is seem like the only options are chemotherapy or radiation?

3. What are the benefits of these treatments?

4.  What are the realistic dangers from these forms of treament?

5. Which one is more effective: chemotherapy or radiation?

6. Are these treatment options being pushed because they are the only forms of treatment?
